NEW COMPETITION – NEVER BEFORE SEEN ON OUR WATERS
This year sees the launch of a new and exciting venture for the Wheelyboat Trust, a fly fishing competition for Wheelyboat anglers and their companions. The Wheelyboat Rainbow Reel-In 2007 wouldn’t have been possible without the generous sponsorship and support of Corus Group (owners of Eyebrook Trout Fishery).
The competition is to be held at the renowned Eyebrook Trout Fishery, Leicestershire with fantastic prizes to be won. The fishery offers exciting sport for the angler and the Trust is very grateful for their invaluable support in hosting this brand new initiative.
Competitors can enter as many times as they like throughout the competition season which runs from 1st April to 1st October 2007. Anglers pay normal fishery rates for a day’s Wheelyboat fishing, plus a small entry fee of £2 which will go to the Trust to help it provide more wheelchair accessible Wheelyboats.
Prizes to be won are:
£400 voucher for heaviest bag
£200 voucher for heaviest single rainbow
plus 2 chances to win a £50 voucher in an ‘out of the hat’ draw.
The vouchers are redeemable at Rutland Fishing.
In addition to these main prizes, Rutland Fishing are generously sponsoring monthly prizes for the heaviest bag of 8 rainbows and heaviest single rainbow. Embroidered badges will also be awarded.
Full rules and entry forms are available at the fishery or from Sue Hiatt, on 01952 615649 or e-mail suehiatt@blueyonder.co.uk.
For more details about the fishery contact Eyebrook on 01536 770264 (www.eyebrook.com).
The Trust would like to thank the competition’s principal sponsors, Corus Group, as well as Rutland Fishing and Andy Miller, fishery manager for Eyebrook, for their invaluable support.
The Trust would also like to thank Karl Humphries for his help and advice in formulating the competition.
Regular competition updates will be issued throughout the season on the monthly catches and winners.
Background
The Wheelyboat Trust is a registered charity that promotes and provides the wheelchair accessible Wheelyboat to fisheries and other waters all over the UK. Chew’s Wheelyboat is the 110th to be supplied since the Trust began work in 1985. The Trust does much more than simply provide Wheelyboats. It is involved in a range of activities that promote disabled people’s entitlement to equal access to waterborne activities. It raises awareness of the difficulties faced by disabled people getting access to lakes, reservoirs and other areas of water; it advises fishery managers and others on access issues; it has instituted the Alan Faulkner Memorial Award to promote the cause of disability angling; it has a comprehensive website and helps prospective venues and local groups raise their own funds to help them acquire Wheelyboats and other facilities for disabled people.
Corus is an international company that manufactures, processes and distributes metal products, employing over 47,000 people. Manufacturing operations cover many countries with major plants located in the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway and Belgium.
The company is closely connected to the fishing sector through it’s ownership of Eyebrook Reservoir. Initially used to supply cooling water to the manufacturing plant in Corby, The Eyebrook has come along way over the years to become one of the UK’s leading Trout Fisheries.
