Access Audits
The most frequently asked question to the BDAA is: "How do you know when the site is accessible?”.
The only way to ensure that you have planned or installed equipment properly, is to have an access audit carried out on the lake, river, pool or fishery as a whole.
BDAA offers comprehensive Access Audit reports; these are carried out by qualified and insured auditors. There is a modest fee for these, much less than a commercial company would charge. These help you to understand if there are any requirements or improvements you can add or alter at your fishery, and may be useful in support of planning and funding applications.
Fisheries/clubs with more than one fishing location may wish to identify the most suitable for provision of disabled facilities. The BDAA can arrange multi-site visits to shortlist the most suitable waters to ensure available funds are invested wisely. These preliminary reports outline the positives and negatives with regard to access and provision of facilities, using specific criteria to identify best sites. Full access audit reports can be requested for the most appropriate sites. These in-depth reports that include all the information required to plan improvements as a single project or as a phased programme.
All reports are provided in a both hard copy and PDF format. These reports may provide support for funding applications to the Environment Agency or National Lotteries for Clubs and Associations.
Access Audits by the BDAA are value for money and profit is directed into the charity’s funds. Basic audits carried out by other organisations can equate to over £1,800.00 for an equivalent service.
The cost of an Access Audit depends on the number of lakes/river /canal sections you would like to have audited. There is a standard charge of £350.00 for an Audit of a single lake/river/canal section, with an additional charge of £35-£100 per additional lake subject to preliminary audit evaluation. Please indicate on the reverse of this page the number of lakes on which you wish to have a BDAA Access Audit.
