Danny's Story.

Im a 26 year old with various disabilities and recently had my left leg amputated below the knee i have been fishing for 20 years 19 of those years i never had any disability. I recently completed your online survey and i am extremely interested in becoming a volunteer coach along with this email is my story of the best 48 hour sessions carp fishing i have had in my life.

July 2007 after a walk around my local lake i didnt see any fish movement so i was debating whether or not to even bother going fishing , the previous week i was pole fishing and managed to land a net of tench weighing over 100lb pounds the biggest catch of tench in years at the local lake. But this time i fancied a carp fishing session my first one since becoming a amputee. The weather was poor and rain was fore casted but i decided to brave the elements and i set up in a swim where i had caught carp a year ealier. After i set up the rods were out but i was not very confident so i kept changing my bait combinations and rigs and finally i had a take, after a short battle a 21lb mirror carp was on the bank , after that first take all hell broke loose and the end result was, 20 fish 10 of which were over 20lb the smallest was 14lb but attached to this email is a photo of the best fish a mirror carp which weighed 29lb 7oz known as 3-2-1 a very elusive old wise carp that has a mythical status at our local lake very rarely seen and i managed to catch it at its biggest weight ever. I hope my story helps other realise that disablity does not mean you cant fish and i hope i can volunteer my time and become a angling coach for the BDAA.

Best wishes.
